Ever since 2009's X-Men Origins: Wolverine, we've been promised an R rated Deadpool movie, with Ryan Reynolds reprising the fan favorite character of Wade Wilson, aka The Merc with the Mouth. Though, at this point, it doesn't seem like the movie will ever get made.
But the actor hasn't given up hope yet.
Speaking with Total Film in their latest print edition, Reynolds claims the movie is still very much alive, though its state of being is in constant fluctuation. Its one of Marvel's edgiest characters. And it's a meta-character at that, which is taking time to mold, shape and form properly for a larger audience.
Zombieland writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick had completed a script, but its unclear who is updating and creating new drafts. Short film director Tim Miller is set to make his feature-length debut on the project.
Its not known when we'll ever see Deadpool on-screen, as 20th Century Fox knows it has a niche film on its hands with a limited audience. When and if the film goes before cameras, expect it to be a low budget affair, which may actually work to its benefit.
Deadpool is in development and stars Ryan Reynolds.
