Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa Oscar Featurette 'Makeup Effects'

When the 86th Annual Academy Awards nominations were announced today, Hollywood heavyweights such as Tom Hanks and Oprah Winfrey were among the notable snubs, as they failed to earn nods for their performances in Captain Phillips and Lee Daniels' the Butler. However, one of the more surprising nominees this morning was Stephen Prouty for Best Makeup and Hairstyling in the raucous comedy Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa, where the 42-year-old Johnny Knoxville was convincingly transformed into the 86-year-old Irving Zisman. To celebrate this prestigious honor, Paramount Home Media Distribution has provided us with a behind-the-scenes featurette from the upcoming Blu-ray release on January 28, that centers on the makeup process Johnny Knoxville had to go through each day, and also features interviews with Johnny Knoxville and the director. Plus, we also have quotes from Johnny Knoxville and makeup artist/Oscar nominee Stephen Prouty who share their thoughts about today's big news.

Stephen Prouty:

"I am so unbelievably excited and honored to receive an Oscar nomination for Makeup and Hairstyling for Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa. My wife, son and I were all glued to the TV and internet this morning and actually got a text of the news from a friend who obviously has a faster refresh button on his computer. I'm very proud of having been a part of this film. We worked very hard each day to help bring Irving Zisman to life and are eternally grateful to have worked with someone like Johnny Knoxville. He is a true talent. What we achieved with this makeup was so exciting and unique. To witness the public being convinced that they were interacting with a real 86 yr. old man every day, over 10 months of shooting, was undoubtedly the highlight of my career. To be nominated for an Oscar for work that I am so proud of is a dream come true!"

Johnny Knoxville:

"What an honor that Stephen Prouty got nominated for Best Makeup and Hairstyling for Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa. Am I as stunned as everyone else we didn't get the nod for Best Picture? Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa was released October 25th, 2013 and stars Johnny Knoxville, Jackson Nicoll, Greg Harris, Georgina Cates, Kamber Hejlik, Jill Kill, George Faughnan, Grasie Mercedes. The film is directed by Jeff Tremaine.
