Katie Holmes Joins 'The Woman in Gold'

Katie Holmes has signed on to star in the upcoming true story drama The Woman in Gold, alongside Helen Mirren and Ryan Reynolds, who signed on back in April.

The plot is set in the year 1998, when Holocaust survivor Maria Altmann (Helen Mirren) enlists the help of her lawyer grandson (Ryan Reynolds) to sue the Austrian government. The lawsuit was an attempt to retrieve multiple Gustav Klimt paintings that were stolen from her family by the Nazis. Daniel Brühl is playing the other attorney on the opposite side of the case, although it isn't clear what role Katie Holmes may have.

Simon Curtis (My Week with Marilyn) is directing from a script by Alexi Kaye Campbell, although no production schedule was disclosed. Worldview Entertainment, BBC Films and The Weinstein Company are producing.

Katie Holmes will next be seen in The Giver, which hits theaters August 15.

The Woman in Gold comes to theaters in 2015 and stars Helen Mirren, Ryan Reynolds, Daniel Brühl, Katie Holmes, Tatiana Maslany, Charles Dance, Max Irons, Tom Schilling. The film is directed by Simon Curtis.
