Latest News: Walking Dead Spin-Off Series Will Follow New Survivors in 2015

AMC is developing a spin-off of The Walking Dead to debut in 2015

AMC announced today that they are in the early stages of developing a spin-off "companion" series for their hit zombie show The Walking Dead, slated to debut in 2015. The show, executive produced by Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd and David Alpert, will follow a completely different set of characters within the same zombie-infested world, although no details were given regarding the survivors.

The news follows the network's announcement earlier this month that Breaking Bad, which ends its critically-acclaimed run on September 29, is getting its own spin-off entitled Better Call Saul starring Bob Odenkirk as shady attorney Saul Goodman, set before he even met Bryan Cranston's Walter White.

While this spin-off of The Walking Dead is set within the same world as the current series, it isn't known if this will be set before the series or if it will take place during the same time, which would allow for the possibility of crossover shows between both series. However, it also isn't known if this will take place around the Atlanta area like The Walking Dead, or in a completely different part of the country.

The Walking Dead episode 4.1, "30 Days Without an Accident" airs on AMC October 13th, 2013. The episode stars Norman Reedus, Lauren Cohan, Andrew Lincoln, Steven Yeun, Emily Kinney, David Morrissey, Chandler Riggs, Josh Stewart and is directed by Greg Nicotero.
