ABC in Talks with LucasFilm for Possible Star Wars TV Series

ABC in talks with LucasFilm for Star Wars TV projects

During ABC's TCA summer tour panel, network president Paul Lee confirmed that the network is discussing possible TV projects set within the Star Wars and Lucasfilm universe.

"We started conversations with them."

The network executive also revealed that he had a "glint in his eye" when Disney, which owns ABC, purchased LucasFilm in October for a whopping $ 4 billion. No details about any LucasFilm/ABC TV projects have been announced. It's not clear which non-Star Wars Lucasfilm projects are a possibility.

Disney and LucasFilm are currently developing Star Wars: Episode VII for a 2015 debut, but there is also an animated TV show in the works. Star Wars Rebels was announced back in May, with an hour-long special set to debut on the Disney Channel in the fall of 2014, followed by the TV series on Disney XD.

The show is set between Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope, which focuses on the Empire hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights, and the formation of the Rebel Alliance.

Star Wars: Episode VII comes to theaters in 2015 and stars Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, Anthony Daniels. The film is directed by J.J. Abrams.
