Josh Brolin and Ryan Gosling Being Considered for Batman in Man of Steel 2?

Man of Steel 2 is considering Josh Brolin and Ryan Gosling to play Batman

Just days after our report that Man of Steel 2 is seeking an actor in his late 30s or early 40s to play Batman, we have a list of potential candidates to play The Dark Knight in this highly-anticipated superhero sequel.

Gangster Squad star Josh Brolin (46) is reportedly the top candidate to play Batman, although studio sources say that the casting process has not even begun yet. Other contenders include Ryan Gosling, the youngest on the list at 32 years of age, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey star Richard Armitage (41), Joe Manganiello (36), Max Martini (43), and Matthew Goode (35).

Some insiders say that any casting talk is premature, since the script is still being written by David S. Goyer. We reported last week that director Zack Snyder was meeting with Frank Miller to discuss the Batman elements of this sequel, although it isn't known if he is being brought on as a producer or writer at this time.

Production is slated to begin in early 2014, for a summer 2015 release.

Man of Steel 2 comes to theaters in 2015 and stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams. The film is directed by Zack Snyder.
